Remember six resolutions that I wrote here? Let’s take a look at what I did to fill them.

1. Target: reading Al Qur’an and finished it twice

January’s achievement: sadly and tragically, I just finished read three suras last month. Where I have been? L

2. Target: Buy N9

January’s achievement: My saving for this dream smart phone is about 10% of the price. Seriously, Dhyn? Well, I bought a new CDMA phone, several gifts for my friends and a new bag hahahaha :D Oh okay, I will be more serious now. I have sent my several short stories to several magazines and tabloids. Hope that one of them would be publish, aaammmiiinnn J

I will be more serious now, I will! But how could I be more serious when people do not believe that I would buy this phone? It’s was kinda bring me down, really L

3. Target: Write and publish The House

January’s achievement: I wrote nothing! I was too busy to take care to another project that comes up every second on my mind. At last, nothing is finished. Damn, I have to engage to my target, The House!

4. Target: Translate Pretty Little Liars’ novel

January's achievement: Actually I have to translate three chapters every month. But this month I just finished a chapter. You can read it by download it here J

5. Target: A picture of my smile face everyday for a year

January’s achievement: I finished the first month of this challenge. But photos are just 21. I failed to complete another 10 photos because of sometimes I forget to take a photo or busy doing something. Here’s the photos J

Fyi, I have to wearing veil when the photo is taken, so sometimes I was too lazy to wear them and didn’t take a photo at all hahahaha. Well, my campus life starts today and I’m gonna go out (and wear veil, of course) almost everyday! Let’s see what would happen next month J

6. Target: At least, read 24 books

January’s achievement: This is the best achievement so far. I read four books this month, a book a week. But I am not sure that I would read a lot of book this month. Because beside read the books that I really want, I have to read textbooks which sometimes I hate to read and it takes time to finish. Well, just be positive and read a book again!

Overall, I don’t think that January is my best month of my resolution’s achievement. But I still think that next month and another month I will finish them. Be positive, Dhyn :D

Hey, Girl!

New Girl is the newest series from Fox starring Zooey Deschanel (500 Days of Summer), Jake Johnson (No String Attached), Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, and Hannah Simone. The story is about Jessica 'Jess' Day who caught her boyfriend, Spencer, cheated with a girl, Rochelle. She decided to move to a new apartment. She read an ad of nice apartment where Nick, Schmidt, and Witson and decided to live there. Cece, her best friend, cannot believe that Jess really move and living with three strangers. Where the next story goes? Well, let’s watch it

When the first time I watch the pilot episode, I know that I fall in love with this series. It is fun, fresh and different. So far, I watched all episodes which is 10 episodes already and cannot wait for the newest episode! But sadly, the length of each episode it is just about 30 minutes. Ooohh I cannot get enough with that time. I want more, I want more!

Beside the fun and fresh story, my favorite thing of the series is Jess and Nick relationship. I heard that they would not make them as a couple, but they are so cute together. Like when Nick singing Dirty Dancing's song to calm down Jess. He barely knows her but it was so cute ;p

Or when Nick bought roses for no reason. He's a romantic person :)

Curious? Let's watch it ASAP! :D

Guilty Pleasure of Mine

I just re-watch The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1. There so much annoying kisses and dialogues but the weird thing is I enjoy it. Well, The Twilight Saga always be my guilty pleasure since the first movie came out hehehehe.

Since the story sucks much, why we don't pay more attention to the soundtracks? I found several songs are good and tried to find it on YouTube. Well, here is my finding :)

I still gonna find the rest of songs, my favorite one of course. Happy Sunday then :D

Three Things Thursday

1. I am currently reading An Introduction to Children Literature by Peter Hunt.

You might me curious or even laugh at me because I am reading a textbook in holiday (fyi, I am in holiday :p). Well, I know it is a textbook and kinda boring sometimes. The book itself mostly tells about history of children literature from 18th century and so on. But I love, I repeat, I really loooooooooooove history and that is why I found this book is interesting :)

History lovers should read this someday :)

2. I won a review competition of Dunsa! Alhamdulillah :’)

Actually I am not the only winner of this competition. Congrats to @bee_in_da_club and @yuki_yuchan who won it too. As the winner, we got cash IDR 100.000,- and free to choose books from Atria up to IDR 200.000,-. Here is my choice of books.

- Alice in Wonderland (This is a famous children’s literature and as English Literature’s student, I think I should read it)
- Scones and Sensibility (I love anything that similar to Jane Austen’s works)
- Semburat Senyum Sore (Another novel from @VincaCallista, Dunsa’s Author)
- The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening (I love the TV series and wondering about the novel) and . .
- My Ridiculous Romantic Obsessions (I do not know why. Maybe I found the title and the cover are so attractive :p)

Can not wait to read them ASAP :)

3. A writing competition from BicaraFilm.

The competition is writing our predictions to Oscar’s 2012 winners . The nominations itself has release last night. You can check it here :)

I am so excited about this competition because I love both writing and watching movies. Can not believe they finally formed as one. But before I write the review, I have to watch several movies to help me predict the winners. The movies is such as The Help, The Artist, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, The Descendants, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, War House, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and uuhh that is a lot of movies hehehe. I might be an amateur on this prediction thing, but I am serious about the writing :)

Selamat malam, Teh Dee :) (manggilnya pake teteh aja ya, kan sama-sama orang Sunda. Bener kan?)

Teh Dee mungkin bertanya-tanya, ngapain sih teteh harus susah-susah meluangkan waktu untuk membaca surat ini dan siapa pula Dini yang berani-berani menulis surat dan sok deket manggil teteh padahal dia baru baca satu novelnya, hehehehe.

Teh Dee bisa saja melewatkan surat ini dan membaca surat-surat lainnya yang menumpuk. Tapi sangat disayangkan jika itu dilakukan. Karena surat ini berbeda, sangat berbeda dengan surat-surat yang lainnya. Surat ini berbeda karena surat ini ditulis oleh seseorang yang bukan fansnya Teh Dee. Penulis itu adalah saya, Dini, yang cuma baca novel Perahu Kertas tapi kemudian jatuh cinta dengan cara menulis Teh Dee.

Jujur, awalnya tidak tahu siapa itu Dewi Lestari. Ketika grup tiga penyanyi bernama RSD, sedang bagus-bagusnya, rasanya saya belum lahir atau masih asyik mendengar lagu-lagu anak-anak yang masih eksis zaman itu. Setelah itu saya hanya melihat beberapa penampilannya sebagai penyanyi solo dan beberapa berita kontrovesial di tayangan gosip. Lalu, ketika Dewi Lestari membuat novel dan menerbitkannya dengan nama Dee, saya yang kebetulan punya minat yang cukup besar pada dunia tulis-menulis agak sangsi. Yaaah, ngapain sih penyanyi ini ngambil lahan penulis? Padahalkan dia udah jadi penyanyi terkenal dan kesempatan untuk semakin terkenal dan suksesnya jauh lebih besar daripada menjadi penulis. Itulah pikiran saya waktu itu. Mohon dimaafkan ya :(

Novel Teh Dee yang berjudul, kayaknya, Supernova yang entah seri Petir atau apa gitu, keluar dan sukses besar. Saya benar-benar tidak tahu dan tidak mencoba mencari tahu sama sekali. Saya mungkin sedang sibuk-sibuknya dengan novel Harry Potter saat itu. Sementara itu teman-teman saya sibuk menjinjing buku itu sebagai bawaan wajib setelah LKS PPKN dan sibuk memperbincangkan novel sekuelnya.

Lalu novel selanjutnya keluar, sebuah buku kumpulan cerpen Filosofi Kopi. Saya suka kopi. Saya suka judulnya yang unik. Tapi saya tidak mencoba membaca sinopsisnya sama sekali. Tak ada keinginan sedikitpun untuk mencari pinjaman dari teman-temanku yang mulai menjinjingnya kesekolah. Bahkan saat datang ke salah satu acara dimana Teh Dee hadir mempromosikan buku tersebut untuk sesi tanda tangan dan foto bareng, saya malah ngaleos dan menghampiri booth lain. Aduuuh, kalo dipikir-pikir nyesel juga ya. Kan lumayan fotonya buat sekarang, buat kenang-kenangan. Tapi saya tidak begitu nyesel karena saya sempat melihat dan bertemu dengan penulis novel Perahu Kertas yang sukses membuat saya galau tingkat tinggi.

Perahu Kertas. Akhirnya setelah sekian lama dipendam, novel itu saya buka dan baca. Saya baca beberapa halaman lalu berhenti. Saya berhenti karena lebih penasaran untuk membaca The Hunger Games dan rasanya aneh ketika membaca novel berbahasa Indonesia, saya kebanyakan baca novel berbahasa Inggris karena saya mahasiswi jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UPI (Maaf, bukan sombong ya, cuma ngasih tau hehehehe). Rasanya aneh membaca sekumpulan kalimat bahasa Indonesia dan ada pikiran yang meremehkan novel teenlit atau chicklit Indonesia yang ceritanya gitu-gitu aja tanpa memberikan inspirasi yang berkelanjutan untuk kehidupan si pembaca.

Tapi setelah saya baca terus-terusan (The Hunger Games tidak tersentuh sama sekali) saya benci untuk mengakui bahwa saya jatuh cinta pada karakter Kugy dan bagaimana keanehannya membuat cerita di Perahu Kertas begitu hidup dan bermakna, bagaimana cita-cita menjadi penulis yang seringkali diremehkan digambarkan begitu nyata dan jujur tanpa berusaha untuk dibela atau dijatuhkan dan bagaimana sebuah keputusan bisa merubah kehidupan seseorang begitu berbeda. Setelah itu saya tidak menyayangkan keputusan saya untuk membaca Perahu Kertas sampai habis.

Setelah Perahu Kertas, anehnya saya tidak tertarik untuk pre-order Madre. Kenapa ya? Mungkin saya memang tidak gampang terbawa pasar dan benar-benar memilih bacaan saya. Semoga suatu hari saya dapet ilham dan tergugah untuk membaca novel-novel Teh Dee lainnya dan siapa tahu saya akan semakin jatuh cinta dan kangen untuk membaca novel-novel selanjutnya.

Saya mungkin bukan fans setia karya Teh Dee, tapi saya mengharapkan Teh Dee terus berkarya. Selamat malam Teh Dee. Salam untuk Keenan dan keluarga lainnya :)

Namun di ulang tahunnya yang ketujuh belas, dia bertemu dengan seorang Zauberei yang mengatakan bahwa Merphilia adalah si Gadis Prajurit dalam Ramalan. Hidupnya berubah drastis saat dia ditugasi untuk membunuh seorang penguasa kegelapan dan monster-monster ganas yang telah memorak-porandakan Empat Negeri Besar Prutopian. Dia harus memusnahkan

sang Ratu Merah, Veruna. Ibunya.

Merphilia memang tumbuh besar tanpa kasih sayang ibunya. Namun tetap saja, ketika berhadapan dengan sang ibu, dan membunuhnya, itu bukan hal yang mudah. Terlebih ketika semua orang membencinya lantaran dia adalah putri sang Ratu Merah. Termasuk Pangeran Ardelazam, lelaki paling tampan yang diam-diam mencuri hatinya.

Akhirnya aku beres baca novel ini dalam waktu seminggu. Lama banget ya? Kuliah dan beberapa acara lainnya jadi penyebab semua itu. Tapi tak apalah, sekarang kan novelnya udah beres dibaca dan ini dia review dari aku. Enjoy :)

Sampul

Depan
Sampul depannya unik dan cukup berani. Unik karena sampulnya tidak memperlihatkan si tokoh utamanya. Sampulnya malah memperlihatkan sebuah pertempuran yang melibatkan dua ekor makhluk yang menyerupai singa dan elang. Ini berarti genre fantasi dari novel tersebut lebih ditekankan dan memisahkannya dari novel-novel teenlit dan chicklit yang lain. Samar-samar terlihat lukisan seperti batik yang jadi latarnya dan juga di kain yang melingkar di makhluk yang mirip singa. Aku langsung mikir kalo ceritanya bakal ada sedikit soal Indonesianya. Benar apa tidak? Baca saja review ini sampai selesai :) Sampul ini juga cukup berani karena ada dua kalimat yang terpampang jelas di bagian bawahnya. "Konspirasi terungkap. Merphilia harus membunuh ibunya". Kalimat tersebut yang secara otomatis juga mengungkapkan konflik utama novel ini. Hmm, ada dua kemungkinan dari dua kalimat tersebut. Satu, calon pembaca jadi tidak tertarik karena 'rahasia' novelnya sudah ketauan dan dua, calon pembaca malah jadi makin penasaran dan pengen baca. Untungnya aku lebih condong ke kemungkinan kedua. :)

Belakang
Seperti sampul belakang pada umumnya, disini sinopsis cerita disimpan. Sinopsisnya sendiri ada tulisan yang ada paling atas post ini. Jujur, aku langsung kebayang cerita Harry Potter. Karena ada kesamaan kasus antara Harry yang tiba-tiba dikasih tau bahwa dia penyihir dan juga Merphillia yang tiba-tiba disuruh untuk membunuh Ibunya sendiri. Sinopsis ini bikin penasaran jadi dua kali lipat. Jadi muncul pertanyaan, 'apa ceritanya bakal kayak Harry Potter?' dan 'apakah Merphillia bakal beneran bunuh ibunya?'. Mari baca-baca terus review ini hehehehehehehe

Cerita

Awal
Ini dia cerita yang dinanti-nanti! Tapi koq rada pusing dan alurnya membosankan ya? Pusing soalnya banyak informasi soal negeri Prutopia yang harus diserap dengan cepat. Dan membosankan karena walaupun tokoh utamanya, 'Merphillia' dan kita sama-sama baru dalam menyerap dan menangkap informasi baru, ditambah lagi dengan fakta Ibunya adalah Ratu yang jahat dan harus dibunuh kembali setelah bangkit dari Reinkarnasi, tokoh 'Merphillian' sebenarnya lebih tau segala hal. Sayangnya 'dia' menceritakannya secara tak sabaran dan agak sok menggurui. Rasanya kayak dibacain buku paket sekolahan yang penuh teori secara paksa. Baiknya, sang penulis bikin juga dong buku-buku yang ada di Dunsa ini, sama seperti yang dilakukan J.K. Rowling. Kalau mau dibikin, aku pesen buku Meresapi Nyanyian Fata satu ya hehehehe.

Pertengahan
Walaupun masih berbelit-belit dan memiliki alur yang lambat dan cenderung berputar-putar, ceritanya udah mulai lumayan rame nih di bagian pertengahan novel. Merphillia, yang lagi deket-deketnya sama Pangeran, Ardelazam Skandar mulai benar-benar bergerak dan bertindak untuk membunuh Ratu Veruna alias Ratu Merah alias Mergogo Dunsa, ibunya sendiri. Tapi sayangnya porsi agdegan percintaan antara mereka berdua terlalu berlebihan dan mereka itu terkesan sangat sempurna. Baik Merphillia dan Pangeran Skandar sama-sama cantik dan cakep, jago berperang dan berani mengambil resiko, pintar dan tau semua hal dan sama-sama memiliki minat baca yang besar. Semuanya begitu sempurna, kecuali Merphillian dibenci karena dia keturunan Ratu Veruna dan Pangeran Skandar yang sudah tidak punya ayah, sampe-sampe mereka tak terluka sedikitpun setelah jatuh dari air terjun, melawan monster-monster purba dan sebagainya. Aku tau ini cerita fantasi, tapi haruskah sesempurna itu?

Akhir
Nah, akhirnya, akhirnya, akhirnya cerita fantasi yang rame, penuh perang dan konflik ada disini. Jujur aku malah keingetan sama film Narnia yang kedua, Prince Caspian. Kenapa ya? Back to the story, Merphillia akhirnya berhadapan dengan ibunya dan konspirasi lain yang begitu mengejutkan terungkap! Twistnya bagus banget deh tapi sayang pertemuan Merphillia dan ibunya kurang gereget. Udah ketemu, ya udah deh. Aku tau kalau Merphillia nggak pernah inget sama ibunya, tapi diakan masih satu darah dan hubungan ibu-anak adalah hubungan yang sangat kuat :o

Kisah percintaan yang menjadi cinta segitiga antara Merphillia, Pangeran Skandar dan putra mahkota, Pangeran Wavilerma juga rame dan sangat bikin galau pas bacanya. Cerita percintaan mereka yang dibuat menggantung bikin banyak isu yang bilang bahwa bakal ada buku lanjutan dari Dunsa. Kyaaaaak, mau baca, mau baca! :D

Random Thoughts.
*spoiler alert*

- Dunsa = Harry Potter + Narnia. Maaf ya, bukan maksud untuk membanding-bandingkan :(

- Di halaman 8 diceritakan seorang gadis yang berusia 17 tahun. Tapi di halaman 18, diceritakan Merphillia yang lupa akan hari ulang tahunya yang ke 17. Loh, loh, loh :o

- "Kedua alis Jendral Adelarda terangkat, tampak tidak acuh" - halaman 149. Akhirnya ada penulis yang menggunakan kata Acuh dengan benar dan sesuai dengan Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia :D

- Pembatas bukunya terlalu kecil, hiks. Jadi walaupun udah digunakan, aku masih bingung dan nyari-nyari halaman terakhir yang aku baca :(

- Ukuran dan harga buku terlalu wah buat novel bergenre fantasi disini. Tapi hal ini cukup berani. Pihak penerbit dan penulis juga pasti udah berpikir matang-matang soal yang satu ini :)

- Peta Prutopia dan silsilah Kerajaan Naraniscalanya bagus banget. Tapi ukuran dan jenis hurufnya bikin pusing dan malah tidak membantu sama sekali :(

- Nama-nama tokohnya bikin pusing dan susah untuk diucapkan :(

- Eh, bagaimana kisah lanjutan hubungan Merphillia dan Jendral Adelarda yang kurang baik? :o

- Itu mantra dan salam "Ekzh ierebu aziam admal-as ekzh" gimana sih cara bacanya? :o

- Merphillia sempat merasakan sakit dan kejang-kejang saat mendekati sesuatu yang berhubungan dengan masa lalunya. Tapi saat dia memasuki Lukisan Putih, hal itu nggak kejadian lagi. Efek Wyattenakai kali ya? :o

Bagian kesukaan!

"Aku akan menjagamu di mana pun kau berada."

Sejenak keduanya saling bertatapan lekat-lekat, kemudian wajah mereka semakin mendekat. Ujung hidung mereka pun bertemu, nafas keduanya berburu, seakan sama-sama merasa sulit untuk mengungkapkan perasaan yang selama ini hanya dipendam sendiri-sendiri.

Pangeran Skandar menempelkan keningnya pada kening gadis itu, tangan kanannya naik ke pipi kiri Merphillia dan mengelusnya pelan. Dalam hati Merphillia berharap hal indah semacam ini tidak akan pernah berakhir. (halaman 358-359)

Walaupun hubungan Merphillia dan Pangeran Skandar terlalu sempurna tapi aku mendukung mereka koq :)

Akhir kata . .

Walaupun banyak hal yang kurang menyenangkan seperti harga dan ukuran buku yang berlebihan, plot yang lambat dan beberapa kesamaan dengan fiksi fantasi lain, Dunsa cukup berani mendobrak dengan kisah imajinatifnya. Recommended :D

Campus, Campus and Campus :)

Althought I have wrote a kaleidoscope about Campus Life last year, my Campus Life for semester 5 was not really over yet. I still had to do final exams, consulting what courses that I am gonna contract next semester and done many other things, like these things below :)

Final Exams Week

Sure you know that I have three days of final exams. But it was actually just two days.

Conference Interpreting: we have to interpret an audio which already learn in the class. The audio is about Norwegian's parent who consulting her daughter's double degree.

Pragmatics: I was late and got bad mood all day long! It was a written test and I just have to answer three questions from five questions.

Children's and Adolescent Literature: Our works is DONE! Alhamdulillah :)

What about other courses?

My Semiotics' lecturer decided not to do the exam. While, my Literary Theories lecturer who also my Literature and Cultural Studies' lecturer gave us a 'take home' test, which I have told you here.

Public Lecturer

Three Things Tuesday+

1. Just finished my two ‘take home’ final exams. What a tough week!

Those are my critical essay about Bless Me, Ultima (which I have finished read last Sunday) and a cultural study’s research about Nokia N9 advertisement (I did not have any interesting advertisement to analyze but this. You know what I mean hehehehehehe). These two final exams haunted me for days, made me sick and tired for being in front of my laptop. I drank a glass of mocacinno and accidently listened to a good song that I never play. It is Westlife’s song, She’s Back.

So tell me why the hell I hear music, Every time she calls I hear music, Is it just the way she loves to confuse me . . .

After all of my *blood* and sweat, the exams is finally done. I asked my mother to check my grammar, but she was too busy :( But nothing’s worry. I believe my own work. The important thing is the semester is over. Then I am ready to face my holiday, yayyyyy :D

Wait, I have not post about my campus life last week yet. So sorry guys, I have been so busy. But I will write the full post about sooooooooooon ;)

2. Currently reading a local fantasy novel entitled Dunsa by Vinca Callista.

I brought this last week but I just have a chance to started reading it now. The story is good and brave! Because of fantasy is a rare genre in Indonesia literature. Dunsa is kind of combination of Harry Potter and Narnia. Interesting enough, uh? I cannot wait to finish it and write a review about it? Why? Because of there is a review competition of Dunsa. By the way, is it illegal to translate someone’s novel and published it online for free? I am kinda scare and uneasy lately. Moreover I found the official translated novel of it. It called Para Pendusta Cantik. Honestly, I did not mean to steal, plagiarism or do *criminal*. I just want to practice my skill on translating. I choose Pretty Little Liar because I am madly deeply crazy about the series and did not found the translated novel of it (I found it now). Please tell me that I am not guilty :’(

Chuck is an action-comedy-spy tv series from US. The tv series is about Chuck Bartowski who receive an email from his old buddy who actually CIA member, Bryce Larkin. The email is contain with a bunch from government's secret and accidentally downloaded into his brain. CIA and NASA send their top agent, Sarah Walker and John Casey, to protect and exploit knowledge of Chuck's brain. It makes Chuck's life is very be normal anymore.

I know it is not a new tv series (everybody normally talk about New Girl) and now it is on fifth season which is final season. But I still looooooooooooove this tv series! I have finished the first and second season and go on to the third season. I loooove their fresh jokes and tense action. Let me share my favorite scenes, start with episode 1: pilot.

The way she flirts is sweet and smooth. I like it hehehehehe :)

Lea and Noah is best friend who turns into couple. They have been dating for a year. Lea loves her boyfriend very much, but Noah is not like that. He is so busy and does not have free time to spend with Lea. When they are together, they always fight for something little. Lea knows that Noah loves Rissa, her sister than herself. But Lea keeps Noah beside her although she gets hurt everyday.

Everything changes when Nathan, a Noah’s new co-worker comes. He found that Lea is someone who he met a year ago and he falls in love with. But Lea seems not remember Nathan at all. Nathan tries to always available when Lea has a problem with Noah and delivers his love secretly. Would Lea realize it and move on to Nathan for good?

I finished read it in three days. It is quite slow for my record. I think I should try to take my reading-fast skill back on. Well, just forget it. Let’s go to the book. I made some points to review this novel.

The cover

What a beautiful and sweet cover. Blue and pink make it more beautiful. Moreover I love rain and I get curious when found a novel that write about it as the focus of the story. But the synopsis on the back cover is suck. It is not a good synopsis because I did not get any idea of the story is about. The publisher and the author is better get work on it more carefully.

The story

Beginning
What a confusing beginning! I understand that the author wants to make the reader curious by putting them into the middle of conflicts of the characters. It worked on me, but not really good. Several chapters at the beginning of the novel seem like that to me. I could not figure out which story in present or past time and I also felt strange to the characters because there is no an introduction of the characters. For example, a main character’s friend named Rendi. My first thought that Rendi is just a co-worker of Lea. But his name still exists until the last page. Then I understand that Rendi is Lea’s bestfriend for loooong time. Cckckck, poor him :o

Middle
This is where the insecure, sad feeling and the main conflict come out. I started to enjoy and understand the story. I was kinda wander on it and cried a bit hehehehehe. I think I have to stop here or the story would reveal hehehehehe. Better read by yourself :)

Ending
The ending is . . too slow and monoton. The main conflict actually has done in the middle part but the story still goes on. ‘Where is the stop?’, that was my thought when read it and getting bored. When I finished it, I was like . . ‘just like that?’. So disappointed :(

Random Thoughts

- I read many reviews in Goodreads and they said the story of this novel is similar to Korean drama.
- The title ‘Rain Affair’ is fit to Nathan’s side because he is the one who falls in love under the rain :)
- There are so many wrong vocabulary, English words and complicated complex sentences. It makes me wondering about the editor.

Last word . .

Rain Affair has a good plot which is put rain as the focus and characters (Nathan is my favorite!). I was really enjoying it. But it doesn’t end perfectly. Everyone has its cup of coffee anyway :)

They Actually Read Literature! #2

Like I have wrote here, some musician read literary works and made some 'intertextual' to their songs. Now I found that the intertextuality is not only in songs, but also in movies. But it is not 'movie which based on novel' thing. Let share my findings and you will understand :D

1. Easy A

This movie is completely the new and modern version of Scarlet Letter. But it is not a based-on-novel movie, it is more like critic and comment to that literary works. The main character, Olive who played by Emma Stone, even shows the classic movie of it.

2. Cyrano Agency

This movie is not a based-on-novel movie or a critic/comment to the literary works. It is more like a inspired-on-the-play movie. The movie uses the play's name and even explain it the plot.

3. From Prada to Nada

Aaaahh, this is a semi-based-on-novel movie. It is a new and modern version of Sense and Sensibility's Jane Austen. But one of the character, Mary read a literature which is not Jane Austen's and I do not remember the title is :p

Hmm, what an interesting finding. What literature which inspired your life, guys? :)

A Day at Campus

This is the first time I went to my campus after NATION. Aaahhh it means that holiday is over and I have to face my final exam week. But do not worry and nervous too much, because the best thing of going to campus is that you can meet your lovely friends (and the special one) again. Yayyyyy :D

Today, I attended a lecture about Introduction to Generative Linguistics from Prof. William Davies from University of Iowa. I was kinda surprise of the way he delivered his lecture. Then I thought, if I continue my study in someplace like England, Australia or even France, this is what would happen :O . Actually, I understand what he said but not all of them. I still had to struggle and listen very carefully to what he said. Some says that I am good at listening, but I noted to myself to get to know more about how the native speaker speaks. It will help, I guess :)

And this is the updated schedule of my final exam.

The last day of my exam week which is Wednesday is the DUE DATE for Children’s and Adolescent Literature’s projects. So far, I just finished the second project, a portfolio with @anyapritafania and @rimamari, taraaaaaa :D

The first project is still on progress. The last project which is a free essay of mine is still on my head. I have many ideas for my essay. Sadly I forgot to write it down and make me to think about it again and again. That’s why I have not write my essay yet. But I commit to myself to finish it before Monday, so I have free time to study others material for final exam. Wish me luck guys :)

A British girl, Anna fall in love to an American boy, Jacob when they are studied in L.A. University. To stay with Jacob more longer, Anna violate her visa than returning to England. One time, she backs to England to attend a family thing and when she comes back to United Stated, she unable to go in. Anna and Jacob have to fight to their love over fighting customs and immigration battles.

Like Crazy was . . -I have to admit it- boring movie. I almost fell asleep when watch this. But it has pretty good and romantic story. It kept me watch more and more until the movie ends.

A long distance relationship story is not a fresh idea but it still worth to tell. It is a really hard and difficult situation in relationship. It gets more hard and difficult when everything seems no agree to the relationship. That's what the movie is about. A couple from a different country but has a same feeling, love.

Let me highlight a scene *spoiler alert* when Anna and Jacob are getting married in England. Not too long after that, they fight, parted and both are cheated. Why this happens? They just married and they supposed to be happy in their early married time. My thought is that this is what happen if you already living together with your boy/girlfriend. I don't judge it is wrong, although it is wrong in my religion and I don't like that thing either. But my point is you are bored and honeymoon is already over for you two guys. What is the function of married if you are living together already? I'm so thankful that I don not have any thought to do that. Please do it the same :)

Facts that I discover:
- This movie is kinda of indie movie. So prepare yourself to watch something that non mainstream and different in a good way.
- Felicity Jones as Anna really caught my attention. She remainds me of Julie Delpy in Before Sunrise.
- Oh by the way, I read that it based on the director's experience with his ex-wife. What a tough story :'(

At last, Like Crazy is not a happy-hour movie type. If you want to watch it, watch it when you really want to watch it. If not, you would fall asleep. Though, it has a touched story and make you think about your own (long distance) relationship. Is your waiting worth or not? :)

My friends and my boyfriend often complain about my expression that looks unhappy. They always ask me to smile more and be positive. Actually I confuse about their complain. My face is actually like this and I don't really feel unhappy when I look unhappy :o

But I accept their advice. I will try to smile more and that's why I'm doing this project.

I have reviewed my MOVIES, BOOKS, CAMPUS LIFE and MUSIC in 2011 yesterday and this is the time to move to the last part, LIFE!

Let me I wrote my past-12-months life here. For you, who always read and click my blog might be remembering. Well, I will spread it once again :D

- I wrote a short story in letter form entitled “Perang Dingin” to NulisBuku.com’s project called #STUPM. You can read my writing by order the book here.
- I ordered a pair of UP’s wedges for myself. I always love wedges, though I am not sure I could stick on it. I ordered Kate two tone and the shoes are perfect as I expected!

- Finally I met my fellas of Writing Session. We set a met up in Reading Light at Tuesday afternoon and had a nice chit chat. Too bad we didn’t take any picture together. And we welcome a new admin, Rheza.

I signed up for Course Le Francais. It was fun enough and nice to learn another foreign language.

- I had the most shame afternoon ever. Read it here.

I presented a play as Nora from The Doll House. It was haunt me for days. But I like it thou.

Actually, there are a lot of things that happened to in 2011. But I decided to keep it for myself because it is too private or I am just too happy to share with you guys hehehehe.

I have reviewed my MOVIES IN 2011 yesterday and this is the time to move to another part, BOOKS!

I signed in into Goodreads. It makes me organize my readings easily. I also join their reading challenge. At first, I targeted 12 books for this year. Then I finished it before October, so I changed it into 15 books. And last, the result is 16 books. It is pretty good, uh?

Top 5 Korean Musicians - I Don’t Shy To Admit- I Like It So Much

Boy/Girl band, dramas and other Korean fever is happening in my country, Indonesia. Although I am not a huge fan of it, I have to admit that I like several of them. For now on I will share my favorite musicians from Korea. Here is my list

SNSD. I have known this big number girl band for long time ago. But I had not heard their song yet. The first time of it was when Dance Competition at ESCW and one of finalist used SNSD’s song. Everybody was singing along and it made me curious. Next moment, I searched the song on YouTube and I found the title, it was “Oh!”. Now, I like them so much especially Sooyoung. Their newest song, The Boys, was echoing in my head for days.

2 PM. My friend, @ismifaw, is the biggest fan of them or it called ‘hottest’. Last 2 semester, I was listening to 2 PM’s songs almost everyday because I was on @ismifaw’s car and she didn’t stop replay the songs. One song was stuck in my head and I really wanted to know the title. Funny thing, my friend also didn’t know the title. Then I searched it on YouTube and I found the title, it was “Space”. Now, I always eager to listen to their new single, the latest was “Hands Up”. But it is hard for me to remember their name and face. They almost look same in their make up. The only one that I remember is Nichkhun.

Taeyang. Taeyang is a member of Big Bang, a top boy band in Korea. But the group was break and every member was doing their solo career. Taeyang did it perfectly in MAMA 2010 which I watched with @ismifaw, @selveh and @rimamari. He sang “Break Down” and “I Need A Girl”. I was fall in love at the first heard. But for this, I do not really follow the news of his. What I heard that Big Bang made a come back and their super busy of it.

2NE1. I knew them and heard a lot of news of them. But it didn’t make me try to hear their songs. The first time was when I was watching MAMA 2010. They were amazing! They break the rule of girl band which girlie and cute, become strong and loud. My favorite of their song are “Clap Your Hands”, “Follow Me”, “Lonely” and also “Lollipop” which collaborated with Big Bang.

CN Blue. Again and again, it was @ismifaw who made me listen to Korean music. She gave me a video clip of “LOVE Girl”. I like the concept of video, the song and also the band! Moreover I have finished watch Heartstring, a Korean drama where the vocalist and drummer of CN Blue play on it. Love love them, especially the vocalist, Jung Yong Hwa.

Okay, I know that the Korean fever in my country is exaggerated. But it does not mean that Korean music is not good. You do not judge it bad before you heard it. And the important thing, you have to admit when you accidently fall in love with it :p

The holiday is coming but I still busy with stuffs and have to go to campus almost everyday!

Just consulted our mini project. FYI, the lecturer changed the due date from Dec 28 to DEC 26!! I have to finish my work before Sunday and it is a must!

I felt sick and did not come to class. But I got an info that the final test will be one of audios that have practiced in the class. Just be ready, guys :)

Practice, practice, and practice. So tired and sick all of it. But THE DAY is getting closer and closer. All of this pain will worth :D

” Ekspresi kamu sama dengan dia” katanya pelan ” Tapi dia tidak bisa mengendalikan diri sepertimu”

” Kamu dan Friesca adalah . . . saudara kandung?” Udith mengucapkannya tertahan-tahan

” Iya, ini hanya konflik orang tua semasa muda”

” Lalu aku?”

” Kamu di adopsi dari panti asuhan yang sangat jauh” mata Tama menerawang jauh ” Dia tidak siap untuk mendengarnya. Tapi Ayah ingin segera memberitau, beliau udah nyembunyiin hampir seumur hidup Friesca. Beliau nekad setelah liat dia memanggil-manggil nama kamu. Aku juga berpikir inilah saatnya.”

” Tapi dia benar-benar tidak siap” tambah Udith lalu dia meremas rambutnya ” Seharusnya aku lebih dekat hari itu dan bisa nahan dia kabur dari kamarnya”

” Bukan salah kamu . . .”

” Kakak benar, aku terlalu pengecut” potong Udith

” Ini takdir” tegas Tama ” Sudah begini adanya. Mengahalanginya akan membuatnya semakin buruk”

” Ada yang lebih baik dari meliatnya meninggal?”

Tama tertegun

” Tidak ada kan?” Udith semakin merasa bersalah ” Apalagi aku lihat sendiri dia tertabrak, lagi. Dia melihatku, menatapku. Tapi aku malah buang muka. Aku tak pernah berpikir itu benar-benar terakhir.”

Tama bisa mendengar ada sedikit isakan dikalimat terakhir Udith. Dia memutuskan meninggalkan Udith yang kini memeluk erat buku diary itu. Pintunya ditutup amat pelan. Setelah menuruni tangga, dia melihat semuanya berkumpul dalam diam. Ayah, Bunda dan Namira. Ogy dan Shyra pasti sudah pulang. Tama mengangguk kepada Ayah tapi itu tidak membuat wajah Ayah sedikit berubah ke arah positif.

” Paling tidak dia gak lari” tambah Tama. Bunda terkejut ” Maaf”

Tama memandang sebuah frame yang membingkai foto Friesca. Ini memang takdir. Dari awal seharusnya ini dihindari. Tak satupun dari kita yang mendapatkan kamu. Tapi cinta tentu sulit untuk dihapus.

Have I ever told you about 'Blow Up!'?

Well, let me explain to you. Blow Up! is a blogger club at my campus. It is not official yet but our friendship is getting stronger by doing every-blog-thing together. For this week, we decided to watch a movie together and write a review about it. Because of I am really into movie, it is I who responsible to provide the movie and choose the best review. Top 8 Snacks in Minimarket

I love munching and spend much money for it. Now I want to cut it off and save my money for my dream smart phone. But it did not make me stop to share my favorite snacks that usually I buy at minimarket. Here’s my list.

1. Tao Kae Noi Crispy Seaweed. It is my newest favorite snack. It is kinda expensive but super yum! Sometimes, I eat it with or without rice.

2. Yupi! Neon Worms. This is an expensive candy for me. I usually eat it in the way to campus. One by one, slowly. I would be like a little girl when eat this and I do not care much hehehehehe

3. Lay’s Seaweed. Best potato chips ever! So crunchy and delicious. But my stomach might be sickening after eat a lot of it.

4. Indomie Mie Keriting Goreng Rasa Cabe Rawit. I am a fan of instant noodle and this is one of my favorite. Hot and spicy!

5. Nescafe French Vanilla. I knew this coffee from @deeprasetya when we did our ABS project. The coffee is effective to stay me up all night. Eyes open wide but my head hurts. Coffee isn’t good for my head, actually. I just drink it sometimes, especially when deadline of my assignment is closer.

6. Cimory Yoghurt Drink Red Grape. I had had a stomach problem and this yoghurt helped me a lot. The taste is nice and fresh. Love it!

7. Walls Buavita Strawberry. Oh my, the real ice of fruit. The strawberries are real and sour. It took me an hour to eat it all. I think I am gonna try the grape flavor.

8. Coca cola. Don’t try this at home, but I drink it when I am in a bad mood. When coffee isn’t enough, I would take it and drink it up at once. Crazy. Then next day, I will feel terrible than before.

That is all! You might be confused and wondering, why I called them as a snack, but this is me hahahahaha. You can get those in minimarket nearby. Enjoy :D

Everytime Robin Thicke sell out his new single, I always think that his song is a story of sex. Why? I don't know. Is it true or his voice is too sexy so I think about it? This new song of his is always super sexy. So adorable he has his wife on it. Kinda jealous (ʃ⌣ƪ)

This song is a perfect song when you are in a fight with your b/gfriend. It works for me and made me insecure enough for days :O

I almost went to campus and doing something similar everyday. I admit that I tired of it and need a gateway or some place quite with no people I know to relax and refresh myself. But life must go on and time does not wait for you, even to take a little breath.

Our assistant lecturer asked us to come to class and discuss about our progress on the final mini research. Honestly, I did nothing for this assignment. I felt terrible when my friends came up with something good or at least they did something. I decided to analyze movie poster. But I haven't decided which poster. Should I pick The Twilight Saga's or Sherlock Holmes'? What kind of analysis that I would do? Give me some time to think about it :)

I have got chilblains on Tuesday. It made me absent for two classes. Thank God the lecturers were not come either.

DUE DATE of ABS PAPER. Thank God I have finished it a day before. Here is my work :)

Btw ABS is much much closer now and I get nervous everytime people talk about it. Pray for the best for us, guys :)

The lecturer didn't come. But she asked us to continue with the latest audio. The audio was much better than last week. The topic is about education between public and private school. What a general topic, isn't it?

Wuuiiihhh, I still have to go to campus tomorrow and also next day. I hope what I do will be mean something in the future. Aaammmiinnn :)

iNAFFF 2011: Reviews of Mine

Indonesia International Fantastic Film Festival (iNAFFF) 2011 in Bandung regional was over a month ago. But I just have a time to write about it now. So sorry. November is always be the hectic month ever for me. When November passed and changed into December, the hecticness is not ever yet. But it kinda slower down than before.

Back to iNAFFF 2011. In this year, I watched two movies. In the first day of festival, what I watched is HAUNTERS.

Director: Kim Min-suk

Writer: Kim Min-suk

Cast: Gang Dong-won, Ko Soo

Genre: Thriller

HAUNTERS is about two different people in two side of life, kind and bad. Gyu-nam is the good man and he can do everything it takes to protect people he care about. On the contrary, HE is the opposite type of Gyu-nam. HE has ability to control people by his eyes. Mostly, he controls people to get money and do anything he likes. What would do if these two people meet and fight for their own believe? That’s where the fun and bloody comedy started.

The movie was bloody awesome! I could not stop to hide my eyes when the bloody scenes coming and laugh out loud when the simple yet super funny jokes exist. Those two actors were amazing. But I hope the movie was tell a bit of Gyu-nam’s past and how he gets his special body which has heal itself quickly. The supporting actors of this movie, who are Turkish and African, made me think that there is also immigrant in Korea. Hmm, it means Korea is a promising land, isn’t it? But unfortunely, the love interest of Gyu-nam has not important part in here. She is just a sweeter and the film would not be too different without her.

Fyi, I watched it alone. I was stress with ABS’s things and need to went away somewhere and forget it for awhile. I planned to watch this movie since I saw it in iNAFFF’s movie list but nobody interested enough to accompany me. So, I rather watch it alone than not at all. It was pretty fun to watch something you afraid of (for me, thriller movie is SCARY) all alone and have a new experience. Thank God the movie was really good. I cannot believe Korea can make a super funny thriller movie like this. Love it and highly recommended for you guys :)

The second day of this festival means SURPRISE MOVIE! But I and my friends were not brave enough to take a risk and we were also out of ticket. By the way, the surprise movie for this year was A Lonely Place to Die. The title is depressing enough. I cannot imagine if I force myself to watch it alone. Iihhhhh

The third day and also the last day, I and @rimamari watched LOFT.

Writer: Saskia Noort

Cast: Anna Drijver, Fedja van Huêt and Barry Atsma

Genre: Thriller

LOFT is about five married best friends who share a loft for anything they like. They can bring many women as they like but one thing for sure, they do not tell it to their wives. At the beginning, it is fun. It changes into a problem when one of them found a dead body of woman there. No one knows and owns that loft key beside the five of them. It must be intern work of them. They start to interrogation each other to tell the truth. The truth itself is shocking and it is a combination of their private lust and love.

The movie was . . was . . was too awesome! I could not stop guess who the bad guy but my guessing were completely wrong! The movie has a twist after a twist and it still has a twist. Wow! You should watch it yourself to experience what I mean. But I aware you to remember that the movie has a lot of nudity and it is fully seen. Kinda disgusting for me. I cannot handle myself to think how lucky those five guys. Did they enjoy it or not? But those nudity scenes are rational and needed to support the plot of the story. I heard that Hollywood will make a remake of it. Hmm, will the remake as good as this? I doubt that. This movie is completely good enough for me, I just kinda disappointed with the ending.

For these two amazing movies, I gave them 3.5 stars.

I think about next iNAFFF and if I could I would go to Jakarta and experience the festival by watching all movies marathonly like every movie addict does there. See you next year :D

Almost Full Week at Campus But . .

I was at my campus from Monday until Saturday but only four days of it which are really effective. It was kinda . . ugh, I don’t know, wasting time? But I like when my friend said that the lecturer was not coming or the class was cancel. What a lazy student :p

I woke up late and not coming to the class. What I heard that the class was discussed a Formalism theory. It can be read from A Very Short Introduction: Literary Theory page 122 and Literary Theory: The Basic page 31.

No one was present their project progress. Meanwhile, the class and the lecturer shared (and also complaint) about our department’s service.

WAIT A MINUTE! I just have a photo shoot moment with my classmates. It was really fun fun fun :)

I had to arrange a practice of Scene #3 of our ABS’s performance. It was intense a little. By the way, it is 15 days to ABS’s performance. Fighting!

Remainder: DUE DAY of ABS’s paper is THIS THURSDAY which is TOMORROW! Let’s work on it, just like what I wrote here.

The lecturer asked the class to interpret an audio about a Norwegian parent who wants to change her daughter’s double degree program. It was difficult because the audio is quite long and it has a strange accent. But I did it! :D

Days are more hectic and intense for me. Hope I can fight all of them. What about yours? :D

(Only) Three Days at Campus

My not-so-really-good health made me miss two days courses and posted this feature late again! It because of tons of assignments to do and I didn't have time to eat lately. I have got fever, migraine, and sprue. It is so bad, isn't it? But I still have to study :)

It was the last meeting of semiotics. But the course isn't end yet. What I mean by 'last class' is the last meeting in the class. Next week, we don't have meeting in the class but we have to start our mini research/journal of semiotics. We will have tutorial writing for it. Just come to our kind lecturers' cubicle, don't forget to make an appointment first!

In the last meeting in the class semiotics, the lecturer talked about METAPHOR, which is I already learn in Cultural Studies class. I didn't bring my dictionary that day and I got 'SOMBONG PERSON' title for it. 'SOMBONG PERSON' is a nickname for someone who didn't bring dictionary to the class. S/he is too selfish to bring it because s/he thinks that s/he knows much much vocabulary than others :p

We discussed 'Literature and Identity' last week. Here is my notes about it.
Literature and Identity
- Do characters make their fate or suffer it?
- How is the identity of a subject formed: (1) is it determined by birth? OR (2) is it shaped by the tribulations of life? OR (3) is it something give or something constructed?
- Literary works characteristically represent individuals, struggles of identity are struggles within the individual and group. Theoritical writings focus their attention on group identities (TENSION OF SINGULARITY AND EXEMPLARITY)
- Literary works play a significant role in the construction of the identity of readers: they demand identification which in in turns create identity: we become who we are by identitying with figures we read about.

It is more kinda list of questions, uh?

This is the really really last meeting in the class for Pragmatics. The last group presented their understanding about the last chapter of the book of Pragmatics we learn about. But the lecturer offered (or asked) about an extended class next weak.

The class assigned to interpret an Indonesia audio to English. It was quite difficult. Because of I could not remember several vocab of Indonesia - English. But I did it pretty well.

As usual, the class and lecturer talked about our progress. This time was my group's. I and my partner, Anya, kinda confuse about our second project. Then lecturer gave an advice to survey and observe to our school's library, Mine = SMAN 11 BANDUNG and Anya's = SMPN 3 BANDUNG. Oke, nice advice :)

Okay, that was all. Wish me get better soon guys and beat all of those assignment for good :D

I have to feel good about myself, then I can do my assignments on time and well done. I had bad feeling, bad thoughts and bad mood lately. I have to admit that I cannot work under pressure yet. Everything mixed up in my mind. My campus life, my friends, my boyfriend, and my very own personal life. No time to rest for a moment, to sleep, to eat or to think about something else but assignment.

In this Islamic New Year day, I went to KFC all alone, ordered something I like and think about myself, my future, my life. After I said no words but pay attention around, I realize that I need activity like this. I just need time to relax, put myself together and gain new energy to beat to-do assignment list for these last two months. I can do it, I believe I can finish it! :D

And I thought about my very own wish in this new year. I hope- no, no, no, not just hoping but- I WILL wiped up all of those negative feelings and change them into positive side. The first thing that I have to do is smile and believe God will always help me. Aaammiiinn :)

Due date for article review assignment is TODAY! Submit it to our lecturer cubicle at 1 pm!

Surprised, my lecturer came and told us that we had a test. We could open our book but just text book, no notes. Here are the questions.
On your own words, explain these things:
1. Foucault’s theory on sex
2. Derrida’s theory on writing
3. Performative language. What its implication on literature? How it relates to constative language?

Thank God, we just had to have to answer two questions of them. But it was still difficult :(

Next day, the lecturer played a music video from titled Natural Woman. It related to our new discussion about identity.

As same as several weeks before, our supervisor lecturer asked our progress about three projects that we are working on. I and my partner, Anya did it in wrong way. If I compare my group’s work with others, my work is not completed yet. I think we have to start over.

My question: Do we have to write a synopsis in a children activity books?
My lecturer’s answer: No, it is no need. But what you have to write is the description about the book and what activity that it is about.

Two presentations from two different groups! I will share the slide as soon as I get it. DUE DATE for research journal is NEXT WEEK! You’re better going to working on it :)

” Iya, iya. Aku lagi coba ngehubungin Ayah dan Bunda” suara cemas Tama terdengar dari luar. Aku mendengarnya samar-samar walau tak mengerti maksudnya. Buat apa Tama ngehubungin Ayah dan Bunda? Ngeganggu bulan madu aja.

Aku mulai mengerjap-ngerjapkan mataku dan melihat sekeliling. Putih dan putih. Rasanya aku tau nama tempat ini.

” Om, Tante!?” kali ini suara Namira terdengar ” Kenapa bisa langsung kesini? Om terima sms dari Tamakan?”

” Tidak. Om punya firasat jelek dari kemarin. Makanya kami cepat-cepat pulang. Apalagi setelah melihat ada anak kucing tewas ditabrak mobil”

” Kucing? Kenapa Ayah bisa langsung mikirin Friesca?” Udith! Itu suara Udith!

” Dith . . . Udith . . .”

Namira masuk ke kamar perawatan begitu mendengar panggilanku

” Friesca udah sadar”

Semua langsung mengikuti Namira. Wajah Ayah, Bunda, Namira, Tama, Shyra dan Ogy muncul disampingku. Mereka tampak cape, cemas, dan sedih. Terutama Ayah dan Bunda

” Sayang, perasaan kamu gimana?” tanya Ayah lembut sambil mengusap rambutku

” Udith . . .” bukannya menjawab, aku malah memanggil Udith. Itu membuat Ayah dan Bunda yang tak tau apa-apa, bingung

” Udith?” tanya Bunda ” Dith, mana?” Bunda menoleh keluar dan tak ada siapa-siapa. Sedangkan Ayah yang sedikit mengerti langsung memandang Tama

” Tama, sini” Tama mengerti dan mengikuti Ayah keluar. Aku masih terus memanggil-manggil

” Udith . . . Udith . . .” panggilanku makin keras. Bunda semakin bingung. Sedangkan Namira langsung menyiapkan suntikan penenang dengan cepat

” Friesca sayang, kamu kenapa?” tanya Bunda dengan cemas. Dia mengenggam tanganku erat-erat ” Kalian teman Friescakan? Apa yang terjadi?” Shyra dan Ogy berpandangan bingung mendengar pertanyaan Bunda itu.

” Gy, gimana nih?” bisik Shyra ” Kita gak mungkin ceritain semuanya” Ogy tidak menjawab

” UDITH!!!” aku teriak sangat keras. Sekeras-kerasnya ” Friesca mau Udith!” Bunda makin cemas

” Tenang, Tante” perlahan Namira menyuntikkan obat penenang ke dalam selang infusku ” Mira kasih obat penenang dulu. Tante gak usah khawatir” seketika aku merasa sangat lemas dan mengantuk

” Friesca?” Shyra terlihat khawatir juga denganku

” Tenang, aku cuma kasih obat penenang koq” kata Namira ” Dia bakal tidur beberapa jam. Jangan takut gitu dong” Shyra tersenyum malu

Aku semakin mengantuk dan mataku hampir menutup. Sebelum aku tidur dan bermimpi, sekilas aku melihat seseorang bersandar di pintu.

” Dith . . .” gumanku pelan. Tak lama kemudian aku tertidur

Aku terbangun ketika seseorang mengusah rambutku pelan. Sedikit sakit karena ada luka disitu. Tapi, membuat perasaanku nyaman. Tiba-tiba tangan itu berhenti dan aku langsung mengerang manja. Tangan itu kembali mengusap, tapi kali ini rasanya beda.

Ayah, Bunda dan Tama muncul dan ada disekelilingku ketika mataku terbuka. Selain itu ada suara kecil, seperti pintu yang ditutup paksa. Aku tidak mengacuhkannya. Pandanganku tertuju ke pemilik tangan yang mengelus kepalaku, yaitu Ayah.

” Ayah . . .” Ayah tersenyum tipis melihatku ” Friesca ada dimana?” tanyaku setelah melihat selang infus tertancap dilenganku

” Kamu ada dirumah sakit karena kecelakaan” jawab Bunda.

Aku diam, memutar balik kecelakaan itu. Ugh, ini gara-gara salah liat lampu lalu lintas.

” Ayah sama Bunda koq ada disini?” tanyaku kemudian ” Bukannya lagi bulan madu?” aku memandang Ayah dan Bunda bergantian dengan bingung

” Masa kita seneng-seneng sementara anak kita kecelakaan?” aku setuju dengan kata-kata Ayah itu

” Tapikan . . . berarti aku ganggu acara kalian” lanjutku ” Kerjaan Ayah juga ketundakan?” Ayah mengangguk sambil tersenyum

” Memang” lalu ekspresi Ayah jadi tegang. Dia menoleh ke Tama ” Tam, tolong keluar dulu. Ayah mau . . .” Ayah mengoyangkan kepalanya dan melirikku dengan penuh arti

” Oh . . .” Tama tersenyum dan mengerti ” Fries, kakak keluar dulu ya”

Aku mengangguk walau sedikit tak mengeti. Kakak? Katanya dia gak suka kalo dipanggil kakak. Kenapa sekarang dia nyebut dirinya kakak?

” Friesca . . .” pandanganku pindah ke Ayah dan Bunda ” Ada sesuatu yang Ayah ingin ceritakan”

” Apa?” tanyaku. Sesaat aku lupa rasa sakit yang ada disekujur tubuhku ” Tentang bulan madu di Lombok ya?” Bunda menggeleng

” Ini tentang keluarga kita” kata Bunda ” Rahasia yang selama ini Bunda dan Ayah simpan”

” Rahasia? Rahasia apa?” Ayah selalu cerita tentang apa aja sama aku. Tapi, aku salah. Ternyata ada sesuatu yang Ayah sembunyikan. Ayah menarik nafas panjang dan menghembuskannya perlahan

” Sebenernya . . .”

Tama menutup pintu perlahan sambil mencoba mencuri dengar. Apa Ayah akan ceritain semuanya sekarang? Tama menggeleng pelan. Friesca pasti kaget dan gak bisa nerima. Tapi, bukankah ini malah bikin untung dia?

Selagi memikirkan itu, Tama duduk dikursi rumah sakit dan hampir tak sadar ada Udith yang juga duduk disebelahnya.

” Hey!” Tama menepuk pundak Udith ” Tumben gak sembunyi di kantin rumah sakit” ejeknya

” Apa salah aku duduk disini?” tanya Udith

” Jelas salah besar!” jawab Tama ” Pengecut! Kemaren pulang duluan, tadi langsung keluar begitu Friesca bangun, sekarang kamu masih berani duduk disini” Udith tertunduk

Tama sebenernya benci dengan tindakan-tindakan Udith yang tiba-tiba jadi pengecut begini. Begitu Friesca bangun karena usapannya, dia malah keluar dan duduk disini. Kenapa tidak tetap diam lalu tersenyum. Friesca pasti merasa baikan lebih cepat melihat saudara tiri sekaligus mantan cowoknya ada disitu.

” Aku memang pengecut” balas Udith pelan. Tama tambah kesal melihat reaksi Udith kali ini. Kenapa kamu begitu pasrah? mana kata-kata bernada tinggi waktu kamu berusaha rebut dan bawa Friesca dariku? Mana?

” Harusnya kamu merasa bersalah” kata Tama sambil menggerak-gerakan kakinya ” Apa kamu belum denger cerita kecelakaan Friesca dari Shyra dan Ogy?”

” Udah” Udith mengangguk. Sebelum pulang, aku memang sempet mendengar cerita Shyra dan Ogy tentang kecelakaan kemaren. Ada sedikit rasa menyesal menyusup ke dalam hati Udith.

” Dan kamu bakal diem aja kayak gini?” tanya Tama lagi. Udith terdiam sejenak, tampak sedang berpikir

” Ya, mungkin cuma itu yang aku bisa lakuin” jawab Udith ” Buat kakak aja” Tama berdiri dan langsung menarik kerah baju Udith. Kemarahannya memuncak mendengar itu

” Cuma itu?” dipandangnya tajam wajah Udith yang tidak melakukan perlawanan sedikitpun. Udith cuma mengangguk ” Kenapa kamu selalu menyia-nyiakan kesempatan? Waktu Friesca milih kamu, kamu malah nyerahin keaku. Dan ketika keadaan seperti ini, kamu malah lepas tangan. Padahal Friesca butuh kamu. Bener-bener butuh kamu!”

” Gantian aku yang tanya kakak” Udith menarik lepas tangan Tama dari keras bajunya ” Apa kakak rela aku bareng Friesca?Ini aku lakuin karena aku disini sebagai adik yang hormat sama kakaknya”

” Hormat?” kepalan tangan Tama mengacung mendengar itu. Sebuah bogem mentah siap melayang ke perut Udith

PLAKK!!!

Tama dan Udith langsung terdiam mendengar itu. Kepalan tangan Tama belum bergerak sedikitpun. Tapi, suara pukulan itu sudah terdengar.

” Jangan pernah panggil nama Friesca lagi!” teriakan itu terdengar dari dalam kamar perawatan

” Friesca?” Tama dan Udith berpandangan. Ternyata bener, Ayah ceritain itu semuanya.

” Keluar!”

” Fries, Ayah ceritain ini semua . . .”

“ Keluar! Friesca gak mau ngeliat tampang kamu lagi!”

” . . . untuk kebaikan kamu”

” Kebaikan apa? KELUAR!!!” Udith mendekati pintu dan siap meraih gagang pintunya

” Jangan” bisik Tama pelan. Dia menarik bagian belakang baju Udith dan mendorongnya duduk ” Kamu diem aja”

” Kenapa? ada apa?” Udith bingung. Apalagi ketika Ayah dan Bunda keluar. Ada bekas memerah dipipi kanan Ayah. Apa Friesca nampar Ayahnya sendiri?

” Friesca . . .” kepala Tama muncul di sela pintu sambil tersenyum ” Kamu gak apa-apa?”

” Kamu juga keluar!” jeritku. Mau tak mau, Tama menarik kepalanya lagi dan menutup pintu

” Ada apa?” tanya Udith bingung. Ayah dan Bunda memandang Udith ” Kenapa?”

” Tam, kamu aja yang kasih tau Udith” kata Bunda. Tama mengangguk

” Kasih tau apa?”

” Nanti juga kamu tau” kata Tama ” Ayah mau duduk?” Ayah menggeleng

” Ayah mau pulang” Ayah terlihat sangat cape ” Tam, kamu yang bawa mobil ya” Tama mengangguk

” Friesca?” Bunda menoleh ke pintu kamar perawatan dengan khawatir ” Apa gak apa-apa ditinggal sendiri?”

” Kan ada Udith dan Mira juga jaga disinikan?” Bunda mengangguk

” Dith, jaga Friesca ya” Seandainya Bunda tau, batin Udith. Tapi, akhirnya dia mengangguk

” Hati-hati” kata Udith sambil memandang punggung keluarganya yang semakin menjauh. Suasana jadi hening kembali. Saking heningnya, Udith bisa mendengar isak tangisku didalam.

Udith bisa melihatnya jelas walau hanya dari sela pintu yang tidak ditutup rapat Tama tadi. Kamu kenapa, Fries?

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is still telling you about a forbidden love between human and vampire. Bella Swan, who is still 18 years old, takes a very important step by marry Edward Cullen. Their wedding is going smoothly although Jacob Black objects it. It is going worse when Bella realizes that she is pregnant. Everybody is surprise with its faster growth. Bella insist keep her baby though it hurts her from inside. Like or not, Edward has to agree with it, though it risks him to lose Bella forever.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is a guilty pleasure movie for me. I hate when people to overrated to welcoming this. But I can not lie that I enjoy the story and curious about the Part 2. The love triangle story of Bella, Edward and Jacob still exist in this story but thankfully it is going to end because of *spoiler* Jacob imprinted! Even though the poster shows a very serious atmosphere, the movie has a lot of joke on it. It disturbed me actually. I have people, mostly girls, laughed or said a loud comment for a little not really important scene. Uuughhhh!

Then my favorite part is the wedding ceremony! Everything looks very romantic. I love Bella’s nervous expression when she walks to altar. Her expression change into clam when she sees Edward is waiting for her. The power of love!

It is better to see how that couple swimming, playing chess, even kissing than hear them talking each other. It is because their acting is all the same as previous movies. I am wondering why it still happens. Is it they whose cannot act? Or is it the story which is very suck? In my opinion, this Stephanie Meyer story is not suitable to become a film. Because the power of Meyer’s story is the way she describes with the words she chosen and that’s cannot be transform into a film form. I am feeling that way because I just finished read the novel last month and it still fresh on my mind. Well, novel and film are very different form of telling something.

If I comment about the cast, I have to admit that Kristen Stewart looks mature and super stunning here. Both in human and vampire form. On contrary, Rob Pattinson looks awkward. He is not handsome yet ugly here. He even does not look like sparkling vampire. I think the make up artist for this movie did not learn from last three movies. Then Taylor Lautner is like a boy who just falling in love. And the rest? Just so so.

At last, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 is really smart to divide their story into two parts just like what Harry Potter did. Everybody, who already read the novel or yet, is curious about the last part. I really hope something better there.

Okay, it happened again. I was late to post this feature because of same reason, too tired. Though in this week so many subjects absence, I even more tired than before.

My lecturer talked about Denotation and Connotation which already discussed in Cultural Studies course. Nothing is new about it. But I wrote some notes.

Group 7’s presentation about Bekam! I did not follow much because of my not-really-good health and the subject had a lot of science terms which I do not understand.

No presentation for this week meeting. But my class, another class and the student of post graduate program gathered and listen to our lecturer’s explanation about, sort of, politeness of language. He presented it in Bahasa Indonesia.

THANK GOD! The due day for pragmatics’ journal is changed to DECEMBER 1!

My lecturer brought an Australian named Scott to the class. He is young, attractive, and even can speak Bahasa Indonesia very well. One by one, but not the whole class, had a chance to interpret his speech. Most of my friends got confuse with his Australian accent. But it was interesting and fun. Nice to meet you, Scott :)

TASK! My class interpretation of Scott was being recorded and we have to transcript it!

What we did in this class was just shared our progress about the three projects that we carried. I have not done any because of I forgot that I have meeting of this class. But one of my classmate and the only boy in the class shared his findings about children books in Gramedia bookstore. It was quite impressive.
Oh, and our supervisor gave us a book to read.

Actually I had to come at Saturday to campus to attend ABS subject. But I was not feeling good enough. I thought about bed rest for that day and recovered my health to face the rest of hectic days in November.

Books to Movies: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

The Book

This is a story about pants who found by four best friends, Lena, Tibby, Bridget and Carmen. They will spend their summer a part for the first time. They promise to lend that pants to each other to keep their sisterhood close. First is Lena visiting her grandpa and grandma in Greece. She meets a super gorgeous guy who has crush on her, Kostos. But she is too naïve to admit that she likes him too. Next is Tibby who stays in town and meets a leukemia girl. That girl teaches Tibby to not judge something just based on its cover. Then Bridget falls in love with her football coach. She does anything to get his attention. And last Carmen visits her divorce father and get angry when know that her dad is going to married in days.

It is kinda boring in the beginning because I did not understand the story and the way is telling. Who is speaking as the main character of this novel? Why the story and the person who speak are different in every paragraph? And many other questions came up on my mind when I was reading it for the first time. But it is changed to be a super interesting story when I can adjust my self and even drawn into the story.

My favorite story is about Lena and Kostos. It is interesting story because it tells Lena who is really beautiful and she is not comfortable about it. But deep in her mind, she thinks that her beauty always attached others attention and she likes it. That feeling become dilemma when Kostos appears in her life. She found that in this time she is attached on him. But she is too shy to admit it because she thinks that it is Kostos who has to chase her and do everything to get close to her. She starts to think that every coincidental that happens in Greence between her and Kostos are already set by Kostos himself. When she realizes that all she thinks is all wrong, she has to admit that there are so many important things that more important than appearance.

Then I can conclude that this unique-story-about-friendship-slash-sisterhood novel is recommended to read and fill your free time.

The Movie

The general story is not changed much. It is about pants and four best friends whom travel a part in summer time. Tibby is still not going anywhere, Bridget is still trying to get her coach’s special attention and Carmen is still as angry as ever to her dad. But the story that focused about Lena and Kostos changed significantly. It is completely different and I hate it.

The movie also was confusing. I know it is hard to make a film with four stories on it and all of them are important stories. My advice is better to focused on one person, for example Lena visits her grandpa and grandma in Greece, and make other stories as compliment. Then the powerful and main soul of the story which is a pants is not really showing here. Just a pants and that is all. What a pity.

And at last I completely choose The Book than The Movie. But you can watch the movie if you want :D

People Around Me.

People Around Me. is a new feature in my blog. In every post of it, I will interview one of my classmates or someone I know closed to share their unique, mysterious and fun talent or interest. For the very first edition, I interviewed Rima Putriani.

You may have read her name in my blog posts many times. Yes I often hang out with her and do many class projects together. I noticed that this Harry Potter freak girl has a good taste in music and if you remember she is the one who responsible to chose soundtracks for Sebuah Perjalanan. Then I think what about ask her about it. Here we go :D

Dhyn (D): Where you usually check new song?
Rima (R): I usually check a new song from radio stations. They always have charts.
D: Which radio station?
R: Usually Oz Radio and Ardan Radio. Commonly in Saturday there is a chart, western songs. Beside that, I check BillBoard.com. Then the information is on Twitter or check a new video from Youtube.
D: But all I know that the video on YouTube is coming late than the song sometime.
R: Yes, it is. Sometimes when I just know the song, the video is already release from long time ago.
D: Yes, it happens a lot. But it seems like you always know a new song that everybody does. You downloaded the video and shared the link of it.
R: Hmm, is that so? Maybe it is me who listen the song first than everybody. It kinda boring sometime, because when I shared the song, no one knows what song it is and it is just me who listen to that song. It is not fun at all. Or maybe I am so update!
D: Please rim, (⌣_⌣'')
R: \ξ(ˇ▽ˇ)ξ/ \ξ(ˇ▽ˇ)ξ/ \ξ(ˇ▽ˇ)ξ/
D: Then, if you check in BillBoard.com, you can get the name of the song and the singer easily. But if you listen to the radio it would be kinda hard to write and remember those.
R: If I listen to the chart, there will be a preview of the songs that already played. If I think the song is nice, I will download it. If it is not, then I won’t download it. But if the announcer is talking to fast and I don’t get the name, I usually just type the lyrics and ask Mr. Google.

D: Yeah, Google helps! But how you can say that song is nice or not? If you listen to it just once, then you can’t directly say that the song is bad. You have to listen to it many times, and maybe you can say the song is good.
R: This one song is not just exists in a chart for a day. It will be play again next week and next next week. When I listen to a new song in second time and it sounds good, I will download it. It is kinda impossible and rare happens to like a song after listen to it just once.
D: Then when you listen to some kinda song, you don’t search and download it directly? But if you like it, then you will go for it?
R: Yep, if I like it, I will search it.
D: What if you like the song you like and download the video already. But suddenly the song is not interesting anymore. Does it happen?
R: Yes, many times. There so many songs and I won’t put them on my playlist.
D: But you keep it?
R: Yes. But just for data. Sometimes my friends ask a new song and it useful.
D: What song you like by now?
R: No I.D by FrankMusik ft Colette Carr and Lego House by Ed Sheeran.

D: Then what song you are looking for now?
R: I am looking for a song, the title is sabana or something . The singer is Sarah . . someone, I forget it. I already noted the lyrics but it still not found yet in Google.

Next Five Days At Campus (Last Week)

So sorry for this post that late than the usual time. I was not feeling well on last weekend. My mind is full of assignments, appointments, and many other things I have to done before this year end. Now, let me report the courses from last week meetings.

Based on the syllabus, my class was going to learn about Paradigm and Syntagm . But I didn’t get that material in the class. Or it is just me who not pay attention much? :o

What I have learned is about structure. Structure is outside us which shape the way we behave. Structure can be form as institutions or family. And then my lecturer talked about how newspaper structured. Semiotics knowledge can be use to explain newspaper layout and we can know the reason why the news structured this or this.

And based on the syllabus, my class has to do article review and submit it as midterm test. The assignment was not clear enough then my friend asked about it. Then the assignment is more difficult than before.

The assignment is changed from article review to journal review. My class has to search the journal on the UPI’s online library. One journal is for one student. Beside a journal that has to be reviewed, we have to read, at least, five journals as references. For references, we can use the same journal.

The structure of review has to contain introduction, what is it about, the strength, the weakness, your own perfectives, the conclusion and references. The review is around 2000-3000 words. The due date is November 25. For the late submission, you have to contract the same course next year!

I choose Iconic Architecture and the Culture-ideology of Consumerism by Leslie Sklairfor which published SAGE this assignment. Pray for me guys :D

For last week, my lecturer explained about Performative Language. It is a language that performs an act, creates realities; it is not a statement of true or false or something that describe something. Examples: I declare, I promise, I order, I name . .

The contrary is causative language. It is language that describes a state of affairs and makes a statement. It can be true or false. Example: She came early . .

Literary language is kind of performative language because people doesn’t have to care if it true or false, they just have to enjoy and felicitous about it. It creates reality through characters, plot, and action they perform. It also creates ideas, concept which is deployed. The performative language of literature makes it possible to separate intention and meanings.

Derrida has different thought about performative language that explained by Austin. Austin state that performative divided into two kinds. First is serious performatives which accomplish something such as marrying and promises. Second is non-serious performatives, utterances that do not perform anything such as a joke. But Derrida state that Austin only analyzed ‘serious utterances’ perform in ordinary circumstances.

My questions (that not answer yet because I was not asked): my lecturer explained that performatives is based on establish discourse practices that happen for long time ago. When a man is marrying a woman, he has to answer ‘I do’ not ‘okay’ or ‘I agree’. So we can not state a new performative language and it will not develop, eh? :o

My lecturer and class discussed about genre and intertextuality. Genre itself is a grouping of texts which are similar in structure or subject matter. My lecturer questions are how does the grouping take place? How can the similarity in structure and subject matter be determined?

My question: Does genre extinct?
My lecturer’s answer: It is possible but a genre cannot disappear without any tracks. Those tracks built a new genre.

My real lecturer cannot come to class until the early of December. She gave us three assignments to complete. A supervisor came to class to review it and help us if there are any difficulities. The supervisor explained to the class how to differentiate findings and analysis. Findings are something we find from our observation then Analysis is our conclusion that can be made after connected our findings.

WEDNESDAY!! My class went to Sukabumi to attend our classmate, Hasah Hasanah, wedding ceremony. Congratulations :’)

And my class took this opportunity to went to Taman Bunga Nusantara at Cipanas. Fun fun fun :)

The next group which is Group 7 explained the second part about Pragmatics and Indirectness. I will post the slide as soon as I got it :D

Surprise, my lecturer remains the class to prepare a journal as midterm test and submit it in week#12 which is November 24, the day before Semiotics’s. I shocked enough :O

For this assignment, I think about observe indirectness but I have not decided the topic yet. Pray for me again guys :D

It was midterm test! The test contained four questions.
1. Explain the kind of interpreting, included mode, the audience, and the way it delivered.
2. What skills that have to be mastered by conference interpreter?
3. What booth behavior that interpreter does to support his performance?
4. A company asked you as interpreter to help them. Based of code of ethics, what will you do?

It was casting time! I, @putdar, @lianisya, @harukazebanri and @arizalrukmana as a part of creative team auditioned bunch of our friend from 2 pm till Magrib. It was so exhausted yet fun!
