Logan Thibault, a U.S. Marine finds a photograph of a beautiful woman while serving in Iraq. No one claim it, so he brings it around. The picture saves his life many times. After finished his tours and back to normal life, he feels the urge to find and thank her. He tracks down her by the details from the picture. After spend months walking with his dog, Zeus, Logan finds the woman. Her name is Beth Green. She lives with her son, Ben and her grandmother, Ellie, who has a dog kennel. Logan has difficulty explaining the reason why he is there. It leads Beth to think that Logan wants to apply for a job. Logan takes the job anyway. At first, Beth does not like Logan’s presence. She has a change of heart after sees how kind and supportive Logan is to Ben. They then begin a romantic relationship.  Beth’s former husband, Keith Clayton gets jealous. He intimidates Beth over Ben’s custody. It causes a serious problem to Logan and Beth’s relationship.

I like the premise that The Lucky One offers. How romantic it is to know that there is someone who is looking for you for a long time. He comes so sudden, saves your love life, wins your family’s heart and solves a complicated problem with the ex, hahaha. I also like, very like the setting of the story. It is always a small town, far away from the big city. It makes a calm and peace atmosphere when ever I watch it.

But I prefer they didn’t do and put anything that already shown on previous Nicholas Sparks’ movie adaptation, like canoing, kissing under running water (or rain) and a couple-is-about-to-kiss poster. Ugh. And I wished they cast another actor to play Logan. Zac Efron was fine. Young, hansome and have a beautiful eyes. But he looks distracted all the time. His action and expression are not any better. His reaction as Logan faces something big, like when he meets Beth for the very first time or when he realizes the photograph is gone, is flat and boring. I think that his way to keep his handsome face. Ugh (again). On the other hand, Taylor Schilling is good. I can see and feel the restless of being single mother. One thing that I do not like is the way she is smiling. She just has a similar face with Katy Perry, and that is kinda unpleasant.

My favorite scene: Logan and Ben’s chess match after dinner.
