Looper

Genre:
Sci-fi/Action
Director & Writer:
Rian Johnson
Cast:
Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo,  Jeff Daniels and Pierce Gagnon

Time travel is invented in the year 2074 but it is outlawed. It is used by criminal organizations to send those they want to kill in the past where they are killed by Loopers. Joe, a Looper, found the older version of himself sent back in time to kill; it's called as ‘closing the loop’. The young Joe tries to kill the old Joe. But the old Joe has his own mission. He plans to kill the child version of The Rainmaker, the future leader who closing the entire loop. The young Joe tries to stop it because he feels that the old Joe stoles his life. But when he meets Sara and her son, the young Joe starts to protect them and also save the future.

Looper was a great movie! I regret for not watch it sooner. The story about the effect of invented a time machine like Loopers and chaos everywhere was so convincing and also scary. Though I was kinda confusing about the way it works. I thought a lot about it while watching the movie. Then I decided to forget it and just enjoy the movie hehehe. Beside time machine and Loopers, the movie also introduced us to mutant people who called as kinetic. They can make an object flying with their hand. Hmmm, it was interesting but it was too much to understand those new things at once J

Back then, I was just watching Premium Rush and I didn’t think to watch any movie, especially which has a serious theme like Looper, though I love Gordon-Levitt’s acting. Gordon-Levitt looked a little different in this movie. As I read other reviews, the makeup crew makes him as the younger Willis, because they needed it to make the story to be more real and believable. You might not notice it at first sight. But minute by minute, he transformed into someone who has strange eyes. It made me laugh. In my opinion, they were trying too hard and it made Gordon-Levitt weird. Please don’t change him again in another movie L

Beside Gordon-Levitt, I also interested to watch this movie because of Emily Blunt. She is my favorite actress since I watched the Wolfman. She is actually a British woman. But in this role, her accent disappeared and I don’t know how she did it. She sounded good in her American accent. It made me think that I also can learn to speak with an accent, like the British. Don’t you think? J

I found an interesting fact about the production of the movie *you can call it as spoiler and this is the alert!* Joe was learning French because he planned to go to Paris when he finished being a Looper. But later the destination changed to Shanghai, China. The director changed the location because he realized that the crew didn’t have enough money to pay the production in Paris. Then a company from China offered to pay the production and shoot the scenes in China. So the story changed. AND don’t forget to check IMDB for quick information about (at least for me) some disturbing scene. I wondered how the movie was showing at Cinema XXI. Did they cut it or not? Wooohhooooooo :O

At last, although Looper presented several new things that can make me confuse a little, I’m sure you’ll love and enjoy the movie. Because it is not only offered action scene, but also a moral lesson that make me think a lot about life and how it impact other’s. Very recommended J

UPDATE! This timeline made me understand the concept :) *spoiler alert!*

Draf 1: Taktik Menulis Fiksi Pertamamu

Winna Efendi
356 halaman.  14 x 20 cm
Gagas Media, 2012 (cetakan pertama)
Rp49.000

Menulis itu susah? Banget.
Truth to be told, menulis itu gampang-gampang susah.
- Prosedur penerbitannya bagaimana?
Bagi kalian yang ingin tahu jawaban dari pertanyaan-pertanyaan di atas, well, this book might be the one for you.

But finally I got it and I love it! :D

This book was totally awesome! J

And that’s okay.”

Recommended and let's writing fiction :D

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2

Genre:
Romance/Fantasy
Director:
Bill Condon
Writers:
Melissa Rosenberg
Stephenie Meyer
Cast:
Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Maggie Grace, Jamie Campbell Bower, Michael Sheen, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Dakota Fanning, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli, Billy Burke, Elizabeth Reaser and Mackenzie Foy

Breaking Dawn Part 2 opened the story by shows post event after Bella gave a birth, her transformation and becomes a vampire. She is now all the same as Edward and nothing can stop them being together. But she is a newborn and she has to manage herself live like a ‘good’ vampire, like don’t drink human blood and try to act like a normal person in front of her dad, Charlie. Not only Bella who has to adapt, Jacob also has a new life when he imprinted to Bella’s daughter, Renesmee. Bella shocked at once, but she cannot let two people she loves not happy together.

The next problem appears and it happens because Irina sees Renesmee with Jacob and Bella. She thinks that The Cullens breaks the Volturi’s law by creating an immortal child. She reports it and makes the Volturi plans to visit the Cullen soon. Alice sees the Volturi’s plan and warns her family. Then the Cullens calls their friends from all over the world to be witnesses and prove that Renesmee is not an immortal child. They hope the Volturi would believe it or they have to fight to save themselves.

Breaking Dawn Part 2 was . . a guilty pleasure for me, like the previous four movies. I like the story, I like the visualization, I like the music, and I like the actors and actresses. But I always found something that is wrong, like how flat Stewart was, how the girls in the theatre exaggerating Edward’s appearances and how gross the way they kiss and making love. I love the movies but not as I really love the novels J

I didn’t get the ticket on the first day the movie showing. I had to please by watching Paranormal Activity 4. Then three days later I finally got the tickets, yayyy! My waiting was worth when I watched the opening credits. They really want to make this sequel special and better than the others. When the movie started, I found that Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner was better in this sequel. They acted more natural and energetic. I think Stewart has to take a role of powerful woman in the next movies, she more fit that way. Then I also found that there are a lot of funny scenes in this movie and it was really entertaining, especially in Emmett’s and Bella’s scene. Go try comedy movie then, guys J

Instead of the progress that the trio Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner made, I feel that they didn’t share it with the newest member, Foy who played Renesmee. They didn’t seem like a new happy family. They more looks like close friends. It is different, isn’t it? And I also agree that I would never enjoy Bella-Edward sex scene, in the theater at least :p

The review of this movie is not complete if we didn’t talk about the twist. Yes, the twist! *For you guys who haven’t watched the movie, I think you should stop reading it or keep going if you like spoiler* I read the novel and I found that the meeting between The Cullens and The Volturi was a little bit boring. FYI, I read the English version and I think that’s why I didn’t get the message that Meyer tried to make to her readers. Is it really a twist? I googled some news about Breaking Dawn Part 2 before writing this review and I found this article, 'Breaking Dawn -- Part 2': Let's talk about that ending! [Obligatory spoiler alert]. I found that the novel described about the fight through Edward’s words. The Director, Bill Condon then decided to visualized it. Whoaaaaaa :O

At last, Breaking Dawn Part 2 was higher than my expectation. The movie ends with a song from Christina Perri and it almost made me cry. OMG, this is the very end of vampire romance that I read and watched since senior high school. You should watch it before it’s too late J

It’s Electrifying

Glee was doing Grease in this episode. It was so exciting. Because I know it would be awesome! :D I choose the most famous song of Grease, You’re The One That I Want, as my favorite Glee song. I know and you know this song already sang in first season. But that what made it special. I almost cried when Marley and Ryder, whose playing Sandy and Danny, changed to Rachel and Finn. The scene cut into the pilot episode, when Rachel and Finn very first meeting and the sang the same song. OMG! :’(

Well, happy Sunday guys J

Character Thursday #13: Heathcliff on Wuthering Heights

Emily Bronte - Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff. Hanya Heathcliff.

“Dia [Catherine] menyayangi Heathcliff.

Bella Swan saja membacanya berulang kali sampai memimpikannya hehehehe. Thank God, my very good friend, @alcynta has the book, the Indonesia translation and lend it to me J

Guess what? I was totally wrong about it!

Oh God, what happened to people on that era? Apakah tebakanku benar? I think I have to read some secondary sources to figure it out J

All You're Giving Me is Fiction

Glee's back with Grease theme!

Actually I hate when they started to sing a song from classic or broadway songs, because I don't know them.  It makes my choice of favorite Glee cover more difficult hehehehe. I have to get used to it :p

For this episode, I used to pick Marley and Wade's song, Blow Me (One Last Kiss), but Kitty and Jake amazed me with their atlethic dance. They can sing and dance, what a perfect combo! :D

Happy Sunday y'all :D

Paranormal Activity 4

Genre:
Supernatural Horror
Directors:
Henry Joost
Ariel Schulman
Writers:
Zack Estrin
Christopher B. Landon
Cast:
Kathryn Newton, Matt Shively, Aiden Lovekamp, Brady Allen, Stephen Dunham, Alexondra Lee, and Katie Featherson

Paranormal Activity 4 is a sequel of Paranormal Activity 2. October 9th 2006, Katie killed her sister, Kristi Rey and her husband. She kidnapped his nephew, Hunter and then remained unknown.  Five years later, the suburban family witness strange events in their house after their take care their neighbor’s son, Robbie. Alex, the older daughter and her boyfriend, Ben install laptops and Kinect all around the house to record any other strange occurrences.

Before I give my opinion on Paranormal Activity 4, I want to say that I didn’t get Breaking Dawn Part II’s tickets and it made my boyfriend and I watched this film. It didn’t mean that I watched this movie by accident, because I was curious about the newest sequel. So, I thought I could save our Friday date and choose this one J

I haven’t watched the second and the third movie. I just watched the first movie and it was about three years ago. I don’t know the whole story about Hunter or Katie’s and Kristi’s childhood but I know what this movie was going to show. The footage that would trying to scare me off. That’s why I excited to watched it J Minute by minute, I was searching for shadows, moving chairs, flying knife, strange sounds and also Katie. Her blank face was very scary, even when she is smiling. Nothing special and now, except the Kinect technology but that was not interest me at all. The interesting part was the ending. It was so intense and fast. I could hardly breathe hahahaha. And it makes me want to watch the two previous movies and also the next one :D

As I wrote before, Katie as Katie (don’t confused, okay J) was very scared me. I was waiting for her appearance but once she came, I regret it :p Beside her, my attention was falling to Alex who played by Kathryn Newton. Paranormal Activity usually picked unpopular actors and actress. But now they picked Newton. She is so cute and beautiful. She was so annoying in Bad Teacher but now she all grown up and I’m sure she will get the right movie to be successful actress later J

Several reviews that I read about this movie wrote that it is unnecessary sequel because it hasn’t something new, both the story and the way their told it. But I think it depends to our purpose to watch it. If you want to be scare, watch it. But if you want a good story, watch other movies. For me, it scare me enough and I don’t think I will survive in the next movie :p

Ps. I couldn’t sleep last night. Ugh, I was such a chicken heart L
