Genre:
Drama/Romance

Nick Cassavetes
Cast:
Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, James Garner, Gena Rowlands, Joan Allen, James Marsden, Jamie Brown, Sam Shepard, David Thornton, Kevin Connolly, Heather Wahlquist, Ed Grady, Obba Babatunde, Mark Johnson and Starletta DuPois

I watched The Notebook with friends several years ago. I just watched several scenes because my friends thought the movie was boring. But I know the main plot of the story. Last week I watched it again in order to prepared myself to read the novel. And here is the review :)

At a nursing home, an elderly man named Duke reads a romantic story from his notebook to his friend, an elderly woman. The story is about Noah Calhoun, a country boy who meets and falls in love with Allie Hamilton, a girl who spends summer at Seabrook. They spend so much time together, share dreams and love. Allie’s parents think that Noah is not good enough for her. Soon Allie and her family went back to New York, leaving Noah. Noah writes a letter everyday for a year but no one gets answered by Allie. Then the war is coming. Noah enlisted with his friend. Meanwhile Allie volunteers as a nurse and met a patient, Lon Hammond, Jr.

The Notebook was good and I can’t believe I cried so much in the end. The story was simple yet sweet and interesting. Although, I knew how the story is going to be like, I still enjoy it, especially with the twist at the end. If you read the synopsis above, you can see that the movie has two different stories. First, Noah and Allie then second, Duke and the elderly woman. In the end, they connected each other and become the twist. I think it is kind of rare and weird to find a twist in a romantic story, but the movie has it and it was good and acceptable :)

Win a Date with Tad Hamilton

Still have an insomnia after World Cup. It's a month already and feel bad. Moreover I have to wake earlier for saur. I don't sleep, I don't want to wake late. I can not sleep yet actually. Then have a thought to search this and viola!

Watch the trailer here.

Rosalee Futch is a grocery clerk living in rural West Virginia. But even a small-town girl can have big dreams, and Rosalee's is to someday--somehow--meet her big-screen idol Tad Hamilton. The "somehow" arrives in the form of a contest--the grand prize: a date with Tad Hamilton--and the "someday" is now. Rosalee wins, much to the chagrin of her best friend and co-worker Pete, who is deeply, hopelessly--and secretly--in love with Rosalee. The "Win a Date" contest was cooked up by Tad's agent, Richard Levy, and his manager, also named Richard Levy, to clean up Tad's bad-boy image. Someone should have told them to be careful what you wish for. When Tad meets Rosalee and gets a taste of what he's been missing in the "real world," he decides he wants seconds and moves to West Virginia, turning Rosalee's dream come true into a nightmare for Richard Levy, Richard Levy and, most of all, Pete. (source)

The movie was predictable yet so sweet. It is a dream of every girl. Meet her idol, date with him, then fall in love each other and can you believe it? This theme may very booming at the time but not now.

Though I already know what would happen or how the ending is, I still can enjoy this. Nothing wrongs. You can watch it with your girlfriends. There is no cheesy joke like romantic-comedy films like now. By the way, Duhamel was so hooooot!

I think I have watch the film with same theme like this before in Indonesia version. Let me think.

The Edukators

I watched another Daniel Bruhl's movie. I also read it before from one of movie magazine.

Jule is a waitress who can't make ends meet. She moves in with her boyfriend Peter and his friend Jan, two young men united by their passion to change the world. But Jule has a secret: an auto accident in the past has burdened her with lifetime payments to a successful businessman named Hardenberg.

Peter and Jan also have a secret: they are the notorious "Edukators," mysterious perpetrators who break into the expensive homes of local yacht club members as an act of political rebellion. They wreak havoc and leave notes that read, "Your days of plenty are numbered." While Peter is away on holiday, secrets between Jan and Jule are disclosed and feelings between them intensify. They impulsively break into the home of the businessman to whom Jule is indebted. But their growing passion has made them careless and when they're forced to return to the villa the following night to retrieve a forgotten cell phone, Hardenberg surprises them.

They have no choice but to call Peter for help, even if it means his finding out about their betrayal. The trio makes a rash decision and their futures, as well as Hardenberg’s, are put in jeopardy.

I don't know what to write about the movie. I have think about it but I forgot because I watch it from You Tube, waiting for part by part and finished it in three days. In fact I can watch it in a day. But my dad brought the notebook and I didn't do anything that day.

Yet, I love it! The unpredictable ending and of course Daniel Bruhl :P. I not watched a lot foreign movie before. So some scenes made me shock because it's different with Hollywood.

My favorite quote from the movie,

" Manche Menschen ändern sich nie "
(some people never change)

Watch and wait for the ending. So you will know why I like it :D

100 Days With Mr Arrogant

I watch Asia serial lately. Such as Brilliant Legancy and The Great Queen Seondeok. Those are a good serial. So when I read a review about an Asia movie, I interesting to watch it. The title is 100 Days With Mr Arrogant.

The story tells about Ha-Young, after dumping her boyfriend just before their 100 day anniversary, meets a college guy named Hyung-Joon when she accidentally kicks a can that hits him in the face and causes him to scratch his Lexus. He demands she pay him $3000 on the spot. She escapes from him, leaving her wallet behind.

Hyung-Joon stalks her, demanding money to pay for his car. Since she is a poor high school student Hyung-Joon writes up a "Enslavement Agreement" for Ha-Young in order to pay for the damage to his car. Ha-Young is thrown into a nightmarish slave life for 100 days, cleaning his house, running his errands, doing his homework and cleaning his car.

By accident she finds out that the damage to Hyung-Joon's car only costs $10! She then takes her revenge. However, before she knows it Hyung-Joon shows up at her house as her new tutor! He once again takes advantage of her, but soon Ha-Young finds herself falling head over heels for Hyung-Joon.

The movie are so funny, entertaining, and remembering me when I was so busy to final exam and entered a university. I love the scene when Ha-Young imitated Sailor Moon. But there are a disgusting jokes and Hyung-Joon looks like my lecturer who gave me score C for his class. Uugh! He is more cute on the poster than on the movie. This movie have copied with title Cinta 100 Hari in Indonesia with Nagita Slavina as the main characters. It's good or bad?

ps. Tooth Fairy premier today!! But in US.
